Something a bit different for me to photograph yesterday at the fair, Shetland Pony Racing. The girls are aged between 8 and 13, and were great to see giving it a good go, it wasn't exactly slow! The utter terror on the face of one of the girls is palpable.
Great fun to watch and shoot, and I'm pleased with how these turned out.

That's adorable! Also, LOL at the grimace on Rider #2's face! 😄

They look pretty fierce to me. The girls, that is .

Maybe it is scary, but none of them is going to be doing that without relevant experience: they know what they are letting themselves in for and what they are doing.

My mum was into horses. Couldn't understand why she didn't have one (she had had, as a girl), as we had a paddock. But she did get a pony (not Shetland size) at one time. The pony turned out to be fierce and I didn't really take to it. So that was the end of my life with horses!

Great photo's catching the action, and the rider expressions. I like horses well enough, but have issues with Shetlands. On a friends property in my teens, I was double barrelled in the chest by one. Probably a bit unfair but I've never liked them since.

Cheers again chaps.
