As the title suggests... part one of what may well turn into 3 posts, we will see. All shots taken at the same venue as Daves shots yesterday, 25/10.
All handheld, single centre point focus, no tracking, manually panned. They are not fast birds, but incredibly graceful, and we had the most perfect conditions for shooting. This is a selection from about a 3rd of my shots I've processed so far.

The thing I find interesting about the shot below is the compression of perspective you get shooting with a long lens. The barns in the background are at least half a mile away.

Cheers Steve. Yes, more owls present, but we found out one actually stayed all year, which is great!

Nice set look likes the owls have come in numbers for you this year ,same haunts in kent have thrown up seo in the last week i might get lucky to get the a7rv on to some of them this week ,are you shooting in crop mode or full sensor and cropping in post for shown images ,just that i am expecting the same performance as the a7r4 with regards tobif ,just that on my a1 if birds are distant the crop mode can be a benefit to auto focus .also that maybe in crop mode the af points will cover all the frame ? on R cameras

Cheers Paul. I pretty much shoot in crop all of the time for wildlife, it helps me track the birds better in the viewfinder. It doesn't help with focus points for me, because I use single centre, no tracking.

Cracking shots Kev. I hope you've got some free wall space for hanging them up!
