hard to get my head around this at worst i have a lens that is 17mm short of the 500mm quoted f/l at infinity thinking of moon shots ,but at minimum f/l it is a 618mm f/l ,thinking of little birds shots ,so i am guessing at 10m a nice f/l distance for small birds i have a lens with a longer f/l than 500mm ,happy days ,usually focus shrinking breathing occurs the other way around cough cough 200-600mm for instance in fact even the 70-200mm gm does to a point but very small amount ,the 200-600mm nearly becomes a 500mm lens at closest f/l distance.

i now want to test framing of the two lenses 500mm sigma and sony 200-600mm at around 10m to see if those differences are noticeable
