I admit it. It was a mistake. I have no one else to blame.

The 28-70 arrived at my local dealer today. They received all their pre-orders and a few more.

I had dropped in to discuss trading in a lens, and I tried the new one on an A9 III. Big mistake. Huge mistake.

It's extremely fast to focus, and sharp as I can see, even at f/2.

I was meant to have a shoot this afternoon, but had to call it off because of the weather. So maybe I could say it was a moment of weakness. After all, I'd already decided that I didn't want this lens, right? OK, I had worked out that I could afford it after getting a decent trade in on my A1. But...

Anyway now I own one. I have a shoot coming up on Friday, so I'll have a chance to try it out. Looking forward to it. Might take it out for a bit of a play tomorrow. It's not replacing a 24-70 f/2.8 - I haven't owned a 24-70 in maybe 14 years? I did get the 20-70 early last year.

Has anyone else succumbed to its siren song?
