News Sony A1 II + 28-70mm F2 Announcement & Discussion

The A1 II has one: it's estimated to ship 24 December 2024. I guess Santa is going to be delivering them
I broke down and pre-ordered one from Amazon, I don't think it will ship till the new year.
Some of the reasons why I ordered one.
1) Frame Rate dial * option, this will probably cut down on the number of images I take by 30-40%. I don't know why they didn't have this option on the original A9. The lack of this feature has cost me so much time.
2) The improved AF for subject detection especially what reviewers have said about BiF. I love BiF work but also hope it works well for bugs.
3) Precapture
4) Flippy screen. As I do more small world stuff the frustration of just a tilt screen grows.
5) Improved IBIS
6) Focus Bracketing. This is something that I have been struggling with, not expecting this to be a full solution but any help is a plus
7) Decent sale value of my A7Riv (I'll miss you 60MP) and nice cash gifts from parents for bday (not enough to get the camera but enough to let me push my budget)

Guess it depends how many pre-ordered ahead of you. They did say it would ship in December, and you only only left it a few days. I wonder how many pre-orders Amazon has? With all the negativity that was being spread, maybe preorders will be low?

Feeling fairly confident I'll get mine early in the roll-out - sent in my pre-order after watching the announcement (middle of the night here).

One thing I am pondering. The Adobe support for the last camera I pre-ordered arrived well before the camera (support arrived in December, camera arrived late January). I wonder if those two will be reversed this time? Then again, with the A1 mark II - Adobe already know the sensor resolution - maybe they won't have as much to do this time?

Amazon was probably the last of the authorized Sony retailers to offer the pre-order. If I could get it around Christmas that would be awesome as I usually try to do a Harlequin Duck trip (their arrival time dependent) that last week of Dec and those would be fantastic birds to test the AF with.

If history is any guide all the software stuff should be getting updates a couple weeks prior to the shipping of the cameras or at least that has been how it has been for Sony cameras in the past. I remember for the A1 that Cap1 got the update prior to me getting the camera which was the day after the 1st ship date.

I've been thinking about a second camera body to go with my A7iv. I wanted to see what the A1 ii had to offer and at what price. It's looking good, I particularly like the pre-shot capability, the 8.5 stop IBIS and the 50 mp sensor (not new, but good to see it's still there). But I'm in no mad rush, so might just wait until the A7v is announced.

I am also considering upgrading to either the A1ii or the A7v, from my present A7iii. I will certainly get one of them, but I will decide when the A7v is announced. I also like the precapture, plus the continuous viewing and the extra dials.

Do we know when they are going to announce the A7v?
