Sony Announces New FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II Lens

Sony has announced a second generation FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II lens which they are claiming to be the World’s Smallest and Lightest F2.8 Standard Zoom Lens.

The new lens will start shipping in May 2022 for European shooters and just a few weeks later in June for the US. The retail price is $2,299.00 in the US, £2,099.00 in the UK and €2,400 in Europe.

Yes I have a pre-order in place......if you believe the reviews ,hype and speculation the MK II has slightly better image quality at the long end , is around 200g lighter than the current 24-70, is faster and quieter with 4 linear lens motors over the current 24-70 sonic motors(which may have difficulty keeping up with the A1 30 FPS raw processing rate) and has reduced focus breathing and lens flare over the current 24-70.......Marc Galer's review on the new lens is interesting, albeit he is a Sony Ambassador so need be careful.......?
