Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS Will Not Mount

I'm brand new here btw. I purchased a "like new" Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS lens from mpb.com. I also purchased a A7iii body and a Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM lens. the 24-70 mounts as it should. The 70-200 absolutely will not mount. There is a hard "stop" before it even begins to seat. I'm new to this gear, but not to putting lenses on a body. Again, the 24-70 mounts perfectly. Anyone else hear of this? Does Sony make two different versions of this lens with different mounting systems? I assumed E Mount was universal?? Thanks,

There isn't another mount version made, and the FE denotes E mount. This sounds to me like it has a fault. Take a close look at the mounts on both of your lenses to compare, or possibly post a photo of the mount on the 70 200 for us to see>

I did compare side-by-side and it appears there is a difference. I just don't understand why. Nor do I understand why MPB wouldn't try to mount the lens to a body prior to selling. I am returning and getting a replacement. Was just looking to see if anyone else had a similar experience. thanks.

It does sound like you may have been sold/sent an SAL 70 200, the old A mount lens then. It should be labelled thus though.
