Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II – Ver.03 Firmware Update

There’s a new version.03 firmware update available for the Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II lens (SEL70200GM2).

Version 03 Firmware Improvements:

• Improves AF performance

The previous 02 firmware is also bundled in the 03 update and this delivered the following improvements:

• Improves the Image Stabilization performance when used with the ILCE-7RM5 camera
• Improves operational stability

You can download the latest firmware from Sony’s support website.

I’m still trying to wrap my mind around a lens needing a firmware update.

We focus the lens on the subject? Or, are we now assistants by helping the lens decide what is the subject?

It’s voodoo.

Who decides what makes a photo photo-worthy? I cannot wait to see what my Sony camera and Sony lens capture this weekend. I really feel like letting it decide! It might win a prize!

Close ups with 70-200 GM II (post 03 firmware update)

I took these shots today, inspired by @GeffBourke's Close ups with the 200-600mm and curious about the 03 firmware release for the FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II. I didn't notce any changes with the new firmware, but it certainly didn't hurt.

Yes. All seems to be working fine. Hard to say if there are any improvements.
