I am offering a bird workshop at a Historical ranch in South Texas. South Texas in known for the spring bird migration at times it can be very intense if we happen to get a north wind. The birds literally fall out of the sky to avoid the north wind.
It is also home to the Green Jay that is a very popular bird among birders. see photo
South Texas is one of the premier hotspots for nature photographers in the country and has been known as a world class destination for birders and bird photographers for many years.
Come along with Angie and Cissy for 3 days of photography and instruction on the Jones Alta Vista Ranch located outside Hebbronville, Texas.
During the workshop we will target all of the South Texas resident birds and the migratory birds that travel through the ranch in the springtime. Some of the birds you will see are Green Jays, Bob White Quail, Golden-fronted Woodpeckers, Pyrrhuloxia, Thrashers, Cardinals, Phoebes and many others will be our targets. We will also target raptors from the ranch’s raptor blind. Crested Caracara, Harris Hawks, and wild turkeys and Black Vultures frequent the raptor blinds at the ranch. Apart from birds we will also some possible mammals like the Collard Peccaries (Javalina), whitetail deer, armadillos, squirrels and other mammals that are available at the ranch. Hopefully we will get lucky and be able to photograph one of the bobcats that live in the area. Possible reptiles are Western Diamondback Rattlesnake and the Blue Indigo Snake. Lodging will be at the Jones Alta Vista guesthouse. The house is well equipped home that can accommodate up to 8 people comfortably. You will have a private room, but a shared bathroom ( we can accommodate singles as well).
Meals will be provided by the ranch cook and as served follows:
* Continental breakfast in the morning before you go to the blind
*Brunch when you return from the Morning shoot
* Afternoon snack before we depart to the blind for the evening shoot
*Dinner will be served after returning from the evening shoot.
