I don't know what it is about the moon that fascinates me, but I find myself looking at it and photographing it quite often. I always much prefer shooting it well less than full. I like how the textures look, and the mystery of the surface darkness as the light drops off.
This is my first moon shot with the a7iv.

What moon phase do other prefer to shoot?

Nice shot. Something I have thought about but not yet done.

Thanks. With that a7R4 of yours, you would get some great resolution cropped in like this.

I want to do more shots of the moon, but I need a better zoom lens for that. I agree that sometimes the craters of the moon seem to pop out more when it is less than full.

Here's my shot of a full moon with a little help from Luminar for the reflection.

Most people think the best time to look at the Moon through a telescope is when it's full. For certain features like the rays that's true but in general it's the worst time because it looks flat. It's so much better when there's texture!

Those are all great shots!

I'm kinda' partial to a few days around first quarter. Lots of depth and I love seeing just the peaks of mountains tops glinting in the sunlight in the blackness of the terminator. A fun target around that time is the Lunar X. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_X

Nice shot, but its upside down!

I'm a big fan of the following day, when Sinus Iridium gets lit by dawn light :)
