This is an adult Black Currawong. The chicks look much the same but their eyes are entirely black.

Also, they make a playful sound something like singing .... "Curr - a - wong. Curr - a - wong." as opposed to the moanful sound "ahhh aahh aaaaahh" that crows make. :))

A magpie parent, wondering if she should attack me or beg for food.
He looks mean! Aussie magpies are much more agressive than their British cousins. I remember being a student at the Halls of Residence at Monash University, part of the walk from the Halls to the campus was a nightmare as you had to cover your head in anticipation of attacks from magpies. Didn't seem to matter what time of year it was, it was always the same.

They have unusal eyes. Our crows have dark eyes, with a blue eyelid, but the young crows have blue eyes.

If you wear a fluorescent shirt like postman Pat, you’re definitely going to get swooped. 😂

A light snack before siesta. Australian Magpie. (This season’s chick)

Tempting an eagle.
Attempting to annoy so that they will leave the territory. Usually it doesn't work. This crow yelled at this eagle at this perch for about 10 minutes before the eagle flew off to another perch a few hundred yards away to where they repeated this. This is also my favorite optical illusion image.

Nesting magpie. This guy was in an almighty fight with a crow over the nest. By the time I got my camera out, the fight was over, the crow gave up and the magpie was victorious.

great shot
It looks like the crow is saying to the eagle, ‘hey mate look at that’ and the eagle has turned around and had a look.
