Is there a menu setting?I have an A6600, and the A6500 may be different, but the A6600 does have a touch screen shutter release option. It isn't something I use, I found that it got in the way of my normal shooting style.
Yes, on the A6600 it comes under the second of 7 screens in the setup part of the menu (Looks like a small suitcase) . The lowest item on this menu screen is "Touch Operation" selecting this then gives you the options of : 1. Touch Shutter, 2. Touch Focus, or 3. Touch TrackingIs there a menu setting?
Yes, it does have limited touch functionality. Strange, you can touch to focus but not shoot while the cheaper 5100 has both!a6500 doesn't have any touch-screen functions.

Sorry about this, please ignore the post. I'm talking rubbish.
The a65000 does have touch functionality. I don't know how I forgot! As far as I can recall now, though, it does not have touch screen shutter release. It has touch for setting and moving focus points. It's almost a year since I used mine daily, and for my brain cells, a year is a long time.
When does "sophistication" get out of hand? I mean page after page after page of menu options requiring casual shooters to buy a book. My personal favorite option is on focus - "Right/Left Eye Select." Really? It is a matter of generations. a6000, a6300, a6500 are first generations. The 6100, 6400, 6600 are next generation, and then 6700.
My a7iv has much more sophisticated touch functions and... I hardly use them at all! I was moving focus spots around, by touch, all the time on the a6500. On the a7iv I seldom have to even use a spot to get the face/eye that I want.
The a6500 is a very nice camera. I loved mine in a way that I cannot love the a7iv! Even though the a7iv gives me better images more easily.
I kind of understand that sentiment. It took me a while to get used to the "new" menu on the a6700 after years of using a6000 & a6400. The up-side is many of those options are not used regularly. The down-side is we forget we even have the options lolWhen does "sophistication" get out of hand? I mean page after page after page of menu options requiring casual shooters to buy a book. My personal favorite option is on focus - "Right/Left Eye Select." Really?
