Hello Everyone,
I'm going through some photos from a trip to Bow Lake a few weeks ago. While reviewing this shot of the marmot on a rock, I noticed some unusual noise/distortions in the background. I'm familiar with bokeh blur (or I thought I was). The bokeh I'm used to can be seen in the blue region. What I'm wondering about is in the red area. Is this just a different type of bokeh or is something else going on?

For reference, the marmot and rock were about ~15m away. The red rocks were about that far again behind the marmot and rock. The blue region is 1000m or maybe more away from me. It was also fairly warm that day so maybe it's heat haze?

Let me know what you think
