Samyang 85mm F1.4 AF Second Generation Lens Announced

Samyang / Rokinon has announced the release of their second-generation 85mm F1.4 AF lens for Sony E-mount camera systems.

The new lens is constructed of 11 elements in eight groups, including four high-refractive elements and one extra-low dispersion element.

The minimum focusing distance is 85cm (2.8ft) and the lens features a nine-blade aperture diaphragm along with a 72mm front filter thread, the lens is also dust and moisture resistant.

The autofocus is internal and is driven via a stepping motor (STM), unlike the first generation which used ultrasonic linear motors.

The lens also features a customizable AF Lock button that can be customized to suit your needs, although it’s lacking an aperture control ring.

The lens measures 83.4mm (3.3”) in diameter by 99.5mm (3.9”) long and weighs in at 509g (18oz).

The Samyang / Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 AF II is already available to pre-order for $799 (US dollars). No details as to when the lens will ship have been provided at this time.
