Samyang (also known as Rokinon and Bowens) has announced their latest full-frame E-mount lens, and this time around it’s the AF 35mm F1.8 FE.
The lens joins Samyang’s “Tiny Series” by featuring a compact, lightweight design.
Samyang says that the lens has been designed for: street photographers, vloggers and Instagrammers,’ but of course this lens will also suit the gear bags of many other photographers.
The lens is constructed of ten elements in eight groups, there are two aspherical lenses and two high-refractive index lenses. There are 9 aperture blades and the aperture range goes from F1.8 through to F22.
The minimum focusing distance is 29cm (.95ft) and the lens is weather-sealed to protect it from the elements. It also features Samyang’s ‘Custom Switch,’ making it possible to control the aperture of the lens using the focus ring.
The lens uses an updated version of Samyang’s Linear STM (stepping motor) autofocus system that it supposedly both faster and more accurate.
Measuring in at 63.5mm (2.5”) long, 65mm (2.56”) in diameter and only 210g (7.4oz) in weight, this lens definitely displays its “Tiny Series” credentials.
The AF 35mm F1.8 FE lens is already available to purchase for $399.00 / £359.00.
