Following on from the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art announced back in March, Sigma now brings us the updated Sigma 24-70 F2.8 DG DN II Art lens.
It will retail for $1199 US and £1179 in the UK, making it roughly half the price of Sony’s FE 24-70 F2.8 GM II lens.
The Sigma 24-70 F2.8 DG DN II Art is available for Sony E-mount and L-mount and should start shipping around the end of May, 2024.
The Sigma 24-70 F2.8 DG DN II Art lens features improved resolving power throughout the entire zoom range compared to the previous version that was released 5 years ago now. The lens also benefits from the addition of an aperture ring and high-speed AF with a redesigned AF motor, HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) and is approximately 7% smaller and 10% lighter.
The minimum focus distance is now just 17cm (6.7″) which helps push the maximum magnification up from 0.34x to 0.37x. The filter thread remains at 82mm.
The new 24-70mm also gains a second AFL button and adds a switch to lock the aperture ring in or out of the ‘A’ position, along with a switch to de-click aperture ring.
