The 50mm F1.4 DG DN Art lens is constructed of 14 elements in 11 groups, with 3 aspherical lenses and 1 SLD glass element. There are eleven rounded aperture blades for a smooth and creamy bokeh.
This lens has been designed specifically for mirrorless cameras and features a swift and near-silent AF, weather sealing, a manual aperture ring with click/de-click options, an aperture lock switch, an AFL button, and a hood with lock button.
A high-response linear actuator system (HLA) drives the autofocus and this is the first use of a linear motor in the Art line-up. According to Sigma the use of HLA makes the AF faster and quieter making the lens a great choice for video shooters.
The 50mm F1.4 DN DG Art is 111.5mm (4.4″) long, with a diameter of 78.2mm (3.1″), and has a 72mm front filter thread. It weighs in at 660g / 23.3oz. (Sony E-mount).
The lens is expected to ship in late February 2023 (Feb 24th according to B&H) and is priced at a $849 in the US and £849.00 in the UK.
