Manny Ortiz takes his Sony a6400 and Sigma 16mm 1.4 DC DN lens out for a low light test on the streets of Chicago. I recently picked up this lens myself together with the Sigma 30mm 1.4 and my only regret is not buying them sooner.
In this video you’ll see Manny filming his wife Diana with the Sony a6400 + Sigma 16mm 1.4 out on the streets of Chicago at night. He also mentions that he currently uses this exact setup for recording his YouTube videos.
Here are the settings used in the video:
4k 24fps
1/50 shutter
ISO 1000-12800
Picture profile 2
Black level -2
Gamma – still
Color mode – Pro
Saturation -4
Color graded using M31 LUT

How does the autofocus work with the Sigma 16mm and the a6400. Is it reliable enough to shoot children at low light with the eye-AF?

I’m using the a6400 + Sigma 16mm 1.4 myself and both human and animal Eye AF are working very well in low light. Of course you’ll still need some light, it won’t work in pitch black! ๐
