Sony has today officially announced their next full-frame lens and this time it’s the FE 35mm F1.8 (SEL35F18F).
According to Sony the new lens provides outstanding corner-to-corner image quality from a maximum F1.8 aperture and its quiet autofocus and tenacious tracking performance make it a great choice for both stills and movie shooting.
The lens weighs just 280 grams and measures 65.6 mm (diameter) by 73.0mm (length). There’s a 9-blade circular aperture and a minimum focus distance of 0.22m. The maximum magnification is 0.24x. There’s a customisable focus hold button and a focus mode switch for switching between auto and linear manual focus for fine control. The lens is also dust and moisture resistant.
You can find the official press release here.
Full details, specs and sample images can be found on Sony’s product page for the SEL35F18F. DPReview also has a sample gallery available.
As usual Sony has made a short promotional video introducing the new lens:
The FE 35mm F1.8 will start shipping in August 2019 and is priced at approximately $750 in the US, £630 in the UK and €700 in Europe.
