Sony has announced three new wide-angle lenses for APS-C cameras like the Sony a6400.
Let’s take a closer look at each one.
Sony E PZ 10-20MM F4 G
The new 10-20mm F4 PZ G lens is a compact power zoom lens with a constant F4 aperture.
It claims the title as the smallest ultra-wide APS-C zoom for Sony E-mount and is designed with hybrid shooters in mind.
The lens is constructed of 11 elements in eight groups, including two extra-low dispersion (ED) element, three aspherical elements one ED Aspherical element.
It has a minimum focusing distance of 13cm (5.1”) at the wide-end (10mm) and 17mm (6.7”) at the tele (20mm) end.
The autofocus is driven by a pair of linear motors and both focus and zoom are internal, making the lens easier to balance on a gimbal.
There’s a focus hold button on the lens that can be customized in-camera. The lens is not parfocal, but Sony says it has reduced focus shift and axis shift while zooming in and out.
The lens measures 69.8 x 55.0 mm (2-3/4 x 2-1/4 in.) and weighs in at 178 g (6.3 oz.). There’s also a 62mm filter thread.
The 10–20mm F4 PZ G lens should be available in early July 2022 for $749.99 in the US and £749.00 in the UK. Pre-orders start on June 2nd at 10am ET in the US, in the UK and Europe they have already started.

The Sony E 15MM F1.4 G is is constructed of 13 elements in twelve groups and features a seven-blade aperture diaphragm that can be controlled via the aperture ring, which can also be clicked or de-clicked.
The autofocus is driven by a pair of linear motors, with Linear Response Manual Focus and minimal focus breathing.
The lens is also weather sealed against dust and moisture, features a minimum focusing distance of 17cm (6.7”) in manual focus mode and 20cm in AF. There’s also a Focus Hold button that can be customized in-camera.
The lens measures just 66.6mm (2.6”) in diameter by 7cm (2.73”) in length. It weighs only 218g and features a 55mm filter thread.
The Sony E 15mm F1.4 G will be available to pre-order on June 2nd at 10am ET in the US for $749.99 with first shipments starting in early July. In the UK you can already pre-order the lens for £749.00.

The Sony E 11MM F1.8 is is constructed of 12 elements in eleven groups and features a seven-blade aperture diaphragm.
The 11mm F1.8 also uses a pair of linear motors to drive the autofocus and it has both a focus mode switch and Focus Hold button that can be customized in-camera.
The minimum focusing distance is 15cm (5.9”) with manual focus and 17cm (6.7”) with autofocus.
There’s a 55mm filter thread and the lens also offers weather-resistance to dust and moisture.
The lens measures only 66mm (2.6in) in diameter by 5.7cm (2.26”) in length, it weighs barely anything at just 178g (6.3oz).
The Sony E 11mm F1.8 will be available to pre-order starting June 2nd at 10am ET in the US for $549.99. In the UK it can be pre-ordered already for £499 and the first lenses are expected to ship in early July.
