A link to all UK retailers participating in this program can be found here.
Please note: Amazon is not included as one of Sony’s authorized dealers, so products purchased directly from Amazon are not covered by this promotion. However, if you purchase from a authorized Sony dealer through Amazon’s marketplace then Sony will pay out according to their T&C’s.
This cashback promotion runs until July 31st, 2021 but you can still submit your cashback claims up to and including September 30th, 2021. Please also note that you can only submit your claim after 30 days from the purchase date.

Hi – just submitted a claim to Sony UK and they have REJECTED the claim although the purchase was from Amazon! Where did you get your info regarding Amazon being a valid supplier from? Regards, Graham

Hi Graham. Was the product purchased directly from Amazon UK or a third party seller? I’ve had no problems with receiving cash back from Amazon purchases before now but only when purchased direct from Amazon. If you check section 10 of the terms and conditions (https://campaign.odw.sony-europe.com/redemption/terms/UK_DI_terms_and_conditions.pdf) it says: “Sony will not accept claims against products purchased from eBay or from third party sellers on the Amazon Marketplace platform (whether listed as new or used). I do mention this in the article above. Providing this was a direct purchase I would definitely query this with them. I have had claims rejected in the past because they said I had made too many, but this was because they had counted all my claims over previous years whilst it was stated in the terms that this resets with each cashback offer. So they don’t always get it right. Hope you can work it out.

HI – the lens was definitely from Amazon UK. The reply I have received from Sony is:
“Thank you for participating in our Sony promotion via our dedicated claim website for product SEL35F18F.
While validating your participation, we concluded that we cannot accept your claim because the reseller Amazon UK where you bought the product is not a participating reseller in this promotion. To check which resellers are eligible or to get more details on this campaign, please check our Terms & Conditions and Frequently Asked Questions on the campaign website.”
The link you have provided does contain a link to the list of ‘authorised retailers’
– https://campaign.odw.sony-europe.com/redemption/dealers/GB_DI_dealers.pdf – Amazon is NOT in this list – but for some strange reason, as you point out, they do specifically reference purchases from Amazon – its almost as if Amazon WERE included but for some reason they have now been removed!
At the time I placed the order (7/6/2020), I am sure the Amazon site was showing the cashback promotion … it isn’t now. After all, why would I buy the lens from Amazon if they weren’t showing the cashback as I could have bought it from a number of other UK retailers for the same price AND qualified for the cashback!
I was hoping that you (or any of your readers/followers) might be able to provide some ‘hard evidence’ that Amazon were part of this latest cashback scheme at some point and present this ‘evidence’ to Sony. I will contact Amazon to see what they have to say.
Thanks for getting back to me.

.. and finally (possibly..) .. I have had an online ‘chat’ with Amazon, and they were unable to find any references to Amazon UK being involved with the Sony Summer 2020 cashback scheme .. (still puzzles me why I would buy this lens from Amazon UK and forgo the option of cashback..) .. I guess this needs to be a bit of a warning to anyone who intends to make use of this current scheme.. check very carefully before making the purchase that the supplier IS part of the scheme if you intend to make use of it! (and possibly take a screen snapshot of suppliers web page .. just in case..)

Sorry for the slow reply Graham. Thanks for sharing the link, I missed this. It is strange that Sony have not included Amazon this time, especially as they are an authorized reseller as far as I’m aware and Sony even link to the Amazon store on a lot of their product pages under the “Where to Buy” link. Maybe many people were buying through third-parties on Amazon without realizing it and then trying to claim the cashback, Sony possibly has a think about it and thought it would be easier for them to exclude Amazon altogether. That’s my guess anyway. Which lens did you buy?
Graham Walker
Easy answer first – it is the SEL35F18F – nice light/fast lens, but not had much chance to play with .. yet. As for Sony & Amazon – yup, most puzzled as Sony do seem to have quite a significant presence on Amazon. This ‘incident’ will make me far careful as to what I do buy from Amazon, possibly to the extent of taking screen captures if there are any offers on … just in case!

Hi Guys,
that is very weird. I downlaoded the documentation from Sony.it (italy) and I have a pdf copy saying the Amazon.it was included. However, while applying now for the cashback, it was not possible to set Amazon.it as a reseller. I re-downloaded the documentation, and Amazon is not included anymore. What should I do?
Thanks,
Alessio

Hi – my view would be if you have a document which shows/proves that at the time you purchased the Sony item, Amazon.it was participating, then Sony should honor it the cashback. For me, unfortunately, I have no such documentation, just a (distant) memory that the Amazon.uk site did reference the cashback scheme when I made the purchase.. which isn’t sufficient evidence to get Sony to agree.

Like Graham says, if you still have the documentation then send it to them as proof. They have definitely allowed Amazon in the past but changed things this year and clearly did a very poor job of informing people and updating their documents from past promotions.

Hi all,
Thanks all for the information. I have the documentation dated beginning of june 2020 saying that amazon was an approved partner. Then, they claimed they removed amazon at some point in june 2020. However it was not advertised anyway. Then, removing such a big partner during a promotion that lasts only 60 days, without properly informing the customers is very misleading.
I raised a ticket to sony.it customer center. I will let you know. However, I have a bad feeling.
Thanks,
Alessio
