Sony has announced their latest full-frame lens and this time it’s the Sony FE 20mm F1.8 G lens (SEL20F18G).
This fast wide-angle prime weighs 373 g (13.2oz) and is slightly smaller than the FE 24mm F1.4 GM.
Sony claims that two ‘advanced aspheric’ and three extra-low dispersion elements provide exceptional corner-to-corner sharpness.

The FE 20mm F1.8 offers a linear response manual focus ring that will hopefully keep videographers happy.
There’s an aperture control ring that can be ‘de-clicked’ for video shooting, as well as a AF/MF switch and a user-assignable focus hold button.
The lens is dust and moisture-resistance and takes 67mm filters.
The lens will cost around $900 in the US and £949.00 in the UK. Pre-orders have now started and first deliveries planned for March 6th.
Sony Ambassador Terry Donnelly already has a short review written up on his website and Albert Dros has gone all out with his review.
DPReview have their first impressions and sample images up here and are already calling it “a near-perfect optic”.
