The ECM-B10 is small and very compact shotgun microphone targeted at Vloggers. It weighs just 34 g / 1.20 oz and measures W 28.0 mm x H 50.8 mm x D 48.5 mm.
The large-diameter (approx. 14.6 mm) microphone capsule helps to provide clear sound collection whilst suppressing noise for high quality sound.
A wind screen is included to help reduce wind noise when shooting outdoors and the microphone has an optimised structure to suppress frequency vibration noise with anti-vibration dampers.
When connected to a Sony camera equipped with the Multi Interface (MI) shoe such as the Sony a7IV, the cable-less design eliminates cable-transmitted vibration noise and enables cable-less shooting. Power is provided from the camera so no need to worry about batteries going flat.
According to Sony the ECM-G1 is highly effective at reducing echo pickup from walls and voice reverberation resulting in clear conversation sound collection.
Although the microphone supports cable-less shooting via the MI Shoe, a cable is included for compatibility with a wider range of devices.
The new ECM-G1 will be available in September 2022 for an estimated retail price of $149.99 in the US, £145 in the UK and €170 in Europe.
