Sony has identified an issue with some SD memory cards from the SF-M series, SF-M series TOUGH specification and SF-G series TOUGH specification.

The issue relates to the VSC mode (Video Speed Class) and recorded footage data on the card may be damaged or may not be recorded optimally.
To address this issue Sony are implementing a free replacement program for affected SD memory cards.
To find out if your SD cards are affected and to arrange a replacement please visit Sony’s support page for this issue in your local country.
When calling you may also be asked for the following:
– Model number
– Full serial number
– Date purchased
– Place purchased
I personally have 5 affected cards 🙁
If you are shooting with the a7III then you can find alternative memory card recommendations in my a7III memory card guide.
Cheers for this Tim, only just found out about it. Looks like I’m going to get a replacement.
You’re welcome Kevin!
Someone have a replacement? I’ve started the replacement procedure but nothing yet.
I’ve heard people in the facebook groups saying that they have received their replacements. I’ve yet to return my own cards, it’s on my long to-do list!
Yes. It took around 10 days after I shipped 3 of the cards to Sony in Indiana.
Cheers for the heads up Tim – I’ve just checked and one of my cards is affected so I’ve started the replacement procedure.
No worries Mike! Hope you get the card sorted quickly. I still need to sort my own cards out!
Thanks Timothy.
You’re welcome Mike! 🙂
