Tamron has announced their latest Sony E-mount lens and this time it’s a 28-200mm F2.8-5.6 Di III RXD zoom lens for full-frame shooters.
The lens measures just 11.7cm (4.6″) long and weighs only 576g (20.3oz).
It is constructed of 18 elements, including glass-molded aspherical, hybrid aspherical, XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and LD (Low Dispersion) elements. There’s a ‘BBAR’ coating that reduces flare and ghosting and the minimum focus distance is just 19.1cm (7.5″) at the wide-angle and 80cm (31.5″) at telephoto.
Unfortunately that wide f/2.8 aperture is really just for the wide-end as it soon jumps to f/3.2 at 32mm; f/3.5 at 44mm; f/4 at 54mm, f/4.5 at 80mm; f/5 at 115mm; f/5.6 at 150mm
The 28-200 makes use of a quiet stepping motor for autofocus and has a 67mm filter thread that is also found on Tamron’s 17-28, 28-75 and 70-180 lenses. The lens is moisture resistant, and the front element’s fluorine coating helps to repel oil and water.
The 28-200mm F2.8-5.6 Di III RXD is expected to start shipping around June 25th for US $729.00 / £799.00 / €869.00 and is already available to pre-order from many stores.
