Update: Reliable rumor source Nokishita has now confirmed that this will be a 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD lens, they have also posted some images on Twitter.
Tamron have now shared two videos on their YouTube Channel teasing a new Sony E-mount lens that looks like a mid-range zoom lens.
The short clips doesn’t reveal many details about the lens, but the below image does provide a size comparison with their existing line-up.
They also reveal that the lens will most likely have a zoom lock switch that so far only the 70–180mm F2.8 Di III VXD lens includes.
The latest video reveals that the lens will be officially announced on June 11th, 2020.
Tamron already has six full-frame E-mount lenses, here’s the full list to date:
17-28mm F/2.8 Di III RXD
28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD
70–180mm F2.8 Di III VXD
20mm F/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2
24mm F/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2
35mm F/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2
Personally I’d love to see a 150-600mm telephoto lens for around the $1,000 mark to give Alpha Wildlife Shooters a more affordable alternative to the Sony FE 200-600 lens, but I think we will have to wait a little longer for this.
