  1. Yes
A few Red Squirrel shots from a recent visit to a British Wildlife Centre which is part of a breeding programme to re-release them. These squirrels used to be our only squirrel until the Greys were introduced and nearly wiped them out. I much prefer these :)

Much prettier than the Greys too!
Indeed they are. When I was a kid we used to get them in our back garden, that's going back to the very early 70's. They have 2 or 3 strongholds in the country now, mostly in the North or on Islands offshore where the Greys weren't introduced.

We have an active program for Red Squirrel reintroduction here in parts of Cornwall. The Greys are removed first and there is talk of reintroducing Pine Martins too but that is more contentious.

That's good, but yes, same talk of Pine Martens being introduced to the Ashdown Forest next year.

Just a week before covid shot the world down we were heading to the UK as my wife has a cousin there.
I had 3 things I wanted to do and that was to go on the Steam train in Scotland, which I have forgot the name of it now.
But there was a Zoo tour involved which was free and I really wanted to go there.
The next was to get as many birds photos while I was there.
the next was what is posted here. They were on top of the list.
I have never seen one but I know they would have become one of my favourites.
So thanks for post up these little fella's.
