Well it was to say the least an incredibly exciting morning .
I looked through the window and there was the male Pileated woodpecker enjoying the log feeders, so I managed to get some shots off when suddenly in the blink of an eye something swooped down towards the Pileated!! He flew away and the thing that swooped down landed in a tree at the back of my woods.. I grabbing my camera and ran outside and into the woods and there was a Sharp shinned Hawk.. it stayed there long enough for me to get a few shots off.
What surprised me was that it tried to attack a bird that was at least as big has him…
All in all a very exciting morning…

After a few little downy visits, there's nothing quite like the look of a pileated hanging onto a tree!

It’s incredible how much activity and variety of birds I’ve had lately..

You caught them nice. Its not often Hawks hang around to get their picture taken.
