Today I had the good fortune of crossing paths with another local alpha-shooter (7R3) owner of some beautiful dogs.
I can see some more dog-photography jams in our future :)

Awesome shots! This dog can really fly! 😀

Great photos! I love seeing greyhounds! I have one as well. He's retired and pretty lazy but will run if given the chance!

Sorry for the quality, this was a quick photo with my phone.

What a coincidence. I'm retired and pretty lazy as well!

My dog Bailey was my model for my new video on the comparison between the new Sony 70-200mm F2.8 GM II with 2x teleconverter and the Sony 100-400mm GM Can you tell a difference? I am rethinking the use of teleconverters.

Left picture has much better IQ

I thought the photo on the right had the edge, but you are much more experienced than I. Either way, I don't feel either photo had MUCH better IQ.

Yes the images defiantly lost quality when i created the thumbnail for my youtube video but the left one is from the 100-400 I was surprised at how well the tele did.

Such a lovely looking dog! There's definitely not a big difference between them in these two shots, at least not to my eyes! The left image might just have a little more detail. I also have the Sony 70-200mm F2.8 GM II and the 2x and have been pretty impressed so far. I'd also like to compare it to my 100-400 if I ever find the time.

Thank you she is my model for my youTube channel she is so patient with me while I get her all lined up. The reason I did the comparison was a subscribers request. I was very skeptical since I have never been a fan of the extenders but yet I keep buying them ;) LOL But now I think I will actually start using if the conditions are right.

And Yes, The picture on the left is the 100-400.

So yesterday materialised the 2nd dog jam session.
2 photographers present,
A) with A1/200mm-600mm, tripod without center column flat to the ground, gimbal head. (experience:amateur photographer for 5 years - first 2 of those on Panasonic m43, last 3 on Sony alpha FF - , two previous dog sessions)
B) with R3/200mm-600mm, monopod, no head. (tons of dog experience - dog owner, amateur photographer for many years - Fuji Xt-3, Sony A6000, Sony R2, Sony R3, new to R3 and 200-600)

B) photographer was struggling with:
- minimum monopod height
- vertical pitch without head
- EVF lag
- AF performance
- blackout between frames
- max fps rate

Conclusion: whomever keep saying that equipment doesn't matter either is a genius, delusional, or both :)

My personal advice being on my 3rd (A1) and 4th (M4) bodies: aim as high as your finances possibly allow you, both for optics and camera bodies, skip as many upgrade steps as you can, do few and large/significant/expensive upgrades or none at all.

That first shot is superb! Looks like the chuckit balls are working nicely! These are pretty much the only balls that my dog doesn't destroy after a few chomps on it! :)

I have some 240fps slow-motion videos of this, but could not find a way how to upload.

The forum doesn't support video uploads I'm afraid as the hosting costs would be too high. But you can upload it to YouTube then share it here.

Great video! This makes me want an A1 even more! :)

Just got my first Sony camera! Tonka is a wild model, but I got this shot. ☺️
Give us the full image instead of thumbnail. It looks like a Great photo.

I am not a dog owner, but many of my neighbors are. Today I was out on my deck and one of the two Boxers who live in the end unit of our condominium building, came out on his deck (adjacent to mine) to also enjoy the weather and the view. I'd been taking a few shots of a bird on our pier with the RX!0 IV, and as it turns out, that camera's 600mm zoom lens was just the right length for grabbing a couple of headshots:
