70-300 Tamron future?

I see a few sites' mass movement of the 70-300 on eBay, quickndone and tri-state for example. Hundreds of copies now down to several. Is the 50-300mm claiming that space going forward?

I have the Tamron 70-300 and I am considering the 50-300 instead because it has vibration control, a wider end (50 vs 70), and a shorter minimum focusing distance. Of course it means spending more $ and incurring an additional 100g weight.

I do see that q&done listing has only 1-yr warranty mentioned, so not USA but grey lenses apparently.
