Sony A1 A1ii

I got a email from Sony saying it is the A1ii being announced on the 19th.

Anyone want to buy a soon to be out of date A1.

It is possible that an original A1 might be a little bit lighter. It will be in your hands before the A1 II will be. And it’s supported in all the RAW processors.

The A1 II will do some things that the original doesn’t.

And sorry Iain - I have my own soon-to-be-out-of-date A1…

Just make sure you wrap your A1 in aluminium foil next week so it doesn’t receive the radio signal from Sony HQ that will make it stop working…

Well, my A1 has a shutter count of zero - you can't get any lower than that.

If you've never used it, it might be faulty. I've ridden this rodeo before.

I've shot over a hundred thousand frames on it. Every single one of them using electronic shutter. In the studio using flash, under bright sun, even trying to photograph the moon.

So the shutter might be faulty, but the rest of the camera definitely isn't.

I’m the same, I will have the AI focusing thing and pre capture I would think but what else!

For my needs, I think I will be skipping this camera upgrade and just stay with my A1.

For those with the A1 I think with what we know now this is probably not worth the purchase. For those without an A1 it might be worth waiting a couple months to see what the price of used A1 is.

I do hope that there is something that has yet to be disclosed about the A1ii that does have a major WOW factor.

I must admit to having the exact same hope - I want there to be something more than has been revealed so far.

However, for me the existing revelations are sufficient that I'm probably going to get it.

I already have the A7RV and A9 III, so having an A1 with the same "AI" AF will mean all my cameras have the same AF, and I like the AF - I like the "cooperative" nature of it, where I get full-time DMF, and if the camera focuses on something close to me I can simply push the focus further away, and AF-C will resume from where I pushed it.

I like the new rear screen a lot, and I have it on two of my cameras now. I really like the A9 III body design and having it on both my "fast" cameras would be conveinent. I already have the same EVF on all three cameras, but I'm hoping one of the upgrades in the A1 II will be to avoid a loss of res when running in faster refresh. I want the stills/video/S&Q switch to simplify the mode dial and give me more custom modes.

I'm looking forward to having V4 CFeA card slots - I bought a V4 card a while back and it uploads significantly faster in the reader on the computer. Having the camera buffer clearance run much faster into the faster card - that will be really nice. I was already shooting a lot of bursts, and I'm shooting more (hard to resist with the A9 III). I'm also hoping that the A1 II supports 30fps in lossless compressed (that's one "surprise" I'm really hoping to see), but if I get that, I'll need the faster buffer clearance even more

I already have the grip for the A9 III, and judging by the images of the A1 II (which include the C5 button - another thing I like), I expect the A1 II will use the same grip - that's nice (I haven't bought a Sony grip before this, but it is sometimes convenient).

So all up, I think I want this. Even though I have an A1, this new A1 II will fit me better.
