Hey guys, I have 3 lenses: Sigma 35mm 1.4, Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 and the massive 200-600.

I Think I'm missing a range and I'm thinking about selling the Tamron 28-75mm for a bigger range lens, for example, The Tamron 28-200 2.8-5.6. What would you recommend for an A7iv shooter, looking to cover a range up to 200-250mm. Looking for options, I should be in Japan next month and I want to get one there. Looking for a unique lens, something "funky" that can improve mh photography.

Shoot away! :)))
Thanks in advance for everyone who has read my thread 🙏🏻

Personally, for street I like discrete. My go to us either the 40 f2.5 with the a7cr. To the uninitiated, it looks like a pocket camera and doesn't put people on guard. If it's landscape type street, I'll use the 24 - 70 f2.8. It's a great lens, very versatile, but very big.

I can't speak for prices in Israel, but currently shopping for us Brits isn't very attractive in Japan. If you can fly via south Korea, however, pop into the underground, they have some great second hand shops with some fantastic gear at very attractive prices. I found this to be the case in Busan last year. I could easily have spent a day down there. Cash is king though, I felt quite uncomfortable withdrawing a million won from a machine, but it was fine. Busan is worth a couple of days anyway.

Like Unframed Dave, for street my prefered lens is the 40mm f2.5. Discreet and IMHO the best focal distance: not too wide, not too close. Of course it all depends on your shooting style.

I also have the 20-70 f4 which I have used for travel and street too, and it's great and light enough for a zoom lens, but not as discreet and that may mean losing some shoots.

Maybe the 85mm f1.8 can get you closer while keeping it light and discreet.

I see, Sadly I won't be In Busan this time (been in Feb 2024, lovely place!)

Any Idea for a different lens besides the 28-200 2.8-5.6?

How about sony 24-240 3.5-6.3?

I'm thinking which one is better...

I'm not familiar with either of those, but merely going on numbers, the second appears more of a compromise than the first.
