I got it! Thanks for pointing me to the right direction. Big help!Probably. You're referring to 'back button focus'. Check the online manual for custom keys. I've always used the shutter button so never looked into it.
If you look at the top of the page, click blogs and resources, then cameras, then your camera.
Sony A7 IV has 'AF-ON' button which you can use to auto-focus an object as long as you disable 'AF' function on the shutter button (when you half press the shutter button by default to focus an object before fully pressing the button to take a photo).Does anyone have any suggestions on how to set dual AF in Sony A7 IV?
Here is detail of my question. Sorry for the confusion.Welcome to the forum. No idea what you're referring to. Please explain?
If you're referring to 'dual pixel' AF, that's a Canon thing.
If you mean Phase Detect along with Contract Detect, the camera does that automatically with most lenses, although some lenses do Contrast only, and they can't be programmed differently.

As far as I know, you have to create a custom set of settings to assign to that button, this will then allow it to be used as bbf. That us hiw i have it on my RIV snywayi am trying to setup my A7IV with dual back button focus.
I have setup the AF-On button for back button focus, no problem, this button i set to spot focus only.
Now i want to setup the AEL also for back button focusing but this will be set to Wide Tracking focus, the reason is, if am shooting birds in a tree, i use spot focus, but if suddenly i see a bird in flight, i need to change to Wide tracking, so instead of going thru the menu, i want to customize the AEL button to change the focus setting.
I have watch the following video on the subject but i get lost with the setting on the AEL button.

Try setting up what you want using the Reg. Custom Shoot Set ( under Shooting>Shooting Mode). You can then a set up a Recall Custom hold 1 and assign this to your AEL button. It also has the advantage that you can change other settings e.g. shutter speed, aperture etc. under this setting.i am trying to setup my A7IV with dual back button focus.
