I went back up to the local Raptor Hotspot on Tuesday, as conditions were once again perfect, and once again the Owls were playing ball, well the Barn Owls were, the Shorties were noticeably absent. I also had good views of a female Hen Harrier but she was too far off and low down for photos (dammit!) Anyway, the first 3 shots, while still cropped are pretty close range, maybe 30ft, and something I have noticed (this is the observation bit) is that since the software update for the 200 600, to make it play nice on the RV, the focus has been ever so slightly more consistently accurate, which is nice. I'm missing fewer shots, and I am also finding that there seems to be better separation of the subject from the background, which makes me think it was slightly back focussing some of the time. Looking at the background here, which is a bit messy (trees should grow uniformly, it would be so much nicer), the owl is nicely defined against it. Anyway, just something I've noticed. The last 2 shots were at distance, and are pretty heavily cropped, but the lens and camera have always been great at distance.
