In the pouring rain this morning, 50 minutes before sunrise. It was darker that it appears in the photo.

This is a shot from some years ago of a red-tailed Hawk at Hawk Hill near San Francisco. If you ever will be in San Francisco in October, take the trip to the Marin Headlands. On any given day, dozens of raptors will travel over the hill on their migration to the south.

I can't decide which of these two I like better.

Definitely the second picture for me. The dark feathers of the left wing enhances the white head. The blue sky does not do the same thing.

A few shots from this morning. Think I need a tripod and gimbal!

Clide with the 1.4 on the 200-600 it needs good light and a very steady hand to get really sharp shots and it looks like you had dull weather mate but well done

Gary, I have the hands of a surgeon. 😎 I think the shakes were a result of too much wine with our Thanksgiving dinner yesterday! I am not much of BIF guy. My daughter wanted to see the eagles, so I took my camera with us. You are correct in that it was overcast. should have left the 1.4 off. Seriously, thanks for your observations, it helps me. Best!

Hi David, yes Conowingo. Have you been able to visit there recently?
I was there Thursday morning. The eagles were mostly fishing on the far side and it didn't help that the wind was most blowing towards us. The gulls were very active on the near side.
