I am a former Canon shooter. I had a D70 body with an excellent 70-200 mm f/2.8 that I called the "moneymaker".
Now I own an a7 III with the Sony 70-200 mm f/2.8 and this combination is even sharper than Canon's! (Attached is the proof).
It took me a little while to adapt to look thru the viewfinder from a DSLR to mirrorless while shooting sports.
But I got the hang of it and now I don't feel the difference.
I am very happy to have switched to SONY.
Here is a photo from an engagement session I did last weekend.
