A few images of this fabulous Male Cattle Egret, a bird I have never managed decent shots of until now. We waited patiently for him to walk nearby, as we (my wife and I by the way) had first seen him walking away along a ditch, but Egrets are creatures of habit and tend to patrol the same ditch back and forth.
Elmley does hold some challenges for photography, being a wide open grassy farmland, getting smooth bokeh is near impossible, and you also have the challenge of heat haze on a warm day (as this was) You are also shooting from your car. Thankfully, it was such a bright day I could shoot fast shutter speeds and keep ISO low, a rare treat in the UK! I love picture 3 by the way, he looked suitably unimpressed with the Mallard photobomber :D

Great shots! I love the photo bomb pic. That egret really isn't impressed one bit!

Great set Kev , superb detail considering the obvious heat haze visible in the bokeh

Cheers Steve. I have to say I was surprised they came out this well, it was such a hot day and it's a nightmare there.
