I got this Echidna at a Adelaide Animal Sanctuary and on it quills you can see blue colour on some of them.
I think this is done so they know which one has been given it's treatment or something like that, but it is a I think.
These to me are great to get.

The 1st shot is to show the quills a little better.
 
These are funny creatures. We get quite a lot of them on the Fleurieu Peninsula. I have had to rescue a few of these - move them off the road. Believe me, those spines are very, very sharp.

We have them here as well and I get shot of one and it heard me then dug itself into the sand and as soon as you try to move it then it puffs it's body out and the Quills spike into the dirt and it is impossible to move unless you have a shovel.
 
Yeah, once they dig in they are extremely hard to move.
