This last weekend I thought I would experiment with Geotagging. I have an A7IV as well as an A7RV. I have the Creators App installed on my Samsung S22 Mobil phone. I worked on this for hours using both cameras and it does not work, even though I have paired both phones in the Creators App, I even deleted one of the cameras and it still would not work. Has anyone here been able to accomplish this task using a Samsung phone. Please let me know.

It's not just the Samsung. I fought this with my iPhone. The closest I got to satisfaction was an app called GeotagPhotos but is finicky and proprietory. I've gone back to my <really> old school geologger and a computer app called Houdahgeo on a Mac. Good luck.

Thank you Killtimer for your input, please read on.

To begin, I have solved this problem. Let me explain. The first thing I did wrong was to make incorrect assumptions. They are as follows:
  1. I assumed I would be able to see the Lat-Long position easily in Lightroom. Wrong!
  2. I Learned that if your camera was successfully linked to location information, you would see an on-screen icon. Partially wrong!
  3. Ultimately, after correctly accomplishing most of the setup correctly, It actually worked the first time I tried it but I didn't know where to look for it.
There is still something I can learn about seeing ALL of the Metadata in Lightroom, but I'm not sure if I will per-sue that avenue. Instead of trying to worry about Lightroom I found this Web site: METADATA 2 GO.com. All you have to do there is drag and drop your file or files on a Window and the answer appears immediately! So for now, Number 1 above has found a work-around.

For Number 2 (See above), the mystery was solved when I learned the VERY basic use of the DISP (Display) toggle on the back of my cameras. This is a very painful and embarrassing admission! The DISP toggle cycles between one of three displays on the back Panel on the camera. When the correct option is displayed, you can easily see the Icon that shows if your camera is receiving location data or not. The final step was to learn the correct formatting for the Lat Long Coordinates for Google Earth or whatever mapping program that you wish to use. A simple HELP file in Google Earth took care of that. I hope that this helps some else here because I wasted hours on this.
