Happy New Year everyone šŸ„³ I sincerely hope that 2025 is filled with good health, happiness and lots of photos tied to great memories.

Have you made any photographic goals for this year or planned any photo holidays?

My life is so busy right now with family and work that my only desire is to try and take a little more time for myself with my camera, preferably snapping some beautiful wildlife. Letā€™s see how that goes!

Happy New Year! I've made it through the first day of 2025 so that's a bonus. I haven't even thought about any new years resolutions...

Having said that, I need to start looking for a new printer.

Happy New Year Everyone. I hope 2025 brings you what you desire. I was hoping to get out and take some photographs on 1 Jan 2025, but in London its windy, wet, cold and very very grey. I may venture out in the afternoon.

Happy new year!

Me, I've resolved that this year is going to be a quiet one. Since retiring a few years ago, we've gone a bit daft spending the kids inheritance. Need to get some building projects finished on the house and out on our old wooden broads boat a bit this year. Last year, she sat in her mooring feeling sad.

I will try my best to stay away from airports. We'll see, the urge might sneak up on me.

Happy New Year to all the forum members! My photography new years resolution is to print more of my photos. I may not be where I want to be yet with photography skills, but fleeting family moments wait for no man...

What printer do you have?
Nothing fancy, one of those ink tank printers. Lemme see... Epson Ecotank 2800? I'm away from home at the moment, but point is: fine for 4"x6" photo prints, good enough for proofs. However, if I have something worth printing big, I'll use an online printing service.

I like to do my own prints. If you want a quality print done here it costs an arm & a leg. My printer still works pretty well & produces pretty good prints, especially black & white, but Epson have ā€˜end of lifed itā€™ & are no longer manufacturing ink. Having said that, it is about 15 years old. When I was at the Sony trade show in Sydney, there was an Epson guy there with a few printers & the one I was looking at was outputting beautiful prints.

Happy New Year to you too Tim.

2024 was not a good year for photography for me. I became a grandfather in 2023 and a lot of my spare time is spent visiting her. Yes there are lots of granddaughter photos, but I really need to get out and about using my camera again. I have just bought a sigma 18-50 f2.8 for my A6300 and intend to have that with me when Iā€™m out at work, so I can seize any photo opportunities that I see along the way. Then maybe plan some trips and take my A1 out.

I like the idea of printing from home but it can quickly go from ok to costing way too much. I had a decent canon printer at one point but I didn't use it for a month, one of the inks dried out which may or may not have led to an issue with the print head and then I'm considering how much I actually print vs what new print head unit/printer costs. Now if I want a test print for getting larger stuff I'll get 4x6 from amazon for 0.17 each.

Now that I have a bunch of things that would be nice to print a printer might make for sense but I just don't know what to do with all the prints. I've already got like 30 prints without a permanent home.

Congratulations on becoming a grandfather. Ours are only 2 and 4 so we have a while to wait yet. I hope you enjoy the Sigma. That lens has been on my list for a while now, maybe I'll finally pick one up this year.
