Hi Craig, welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing your work. What do you shoot?Recovering Nikon addict here who just purchased an Apha 7CR – a very nifty piece of hardware! I’m looking forward to absorbing some of the forum’s collective wisdom!
Cheers!
Thanks, everyone for the warm welcome!Hi Craig, welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing your work. What do you shoot?
I reckon your A7CR would do really well. My wife & I are going down the coast here for a few days next week & that's what I'm hoping to do with my A7RV. Unfortunately, it's rising here in the east at the moment so that might make it a bit harder to find a good spot to set up. Wouldn't mind maybe giving Orion a go too if time permits.I would very much like to get to some darker skies and see what my A7CR can do with some extended exposures of the Milky Way.
Craig, that sounds great, looking forward to seeing your shots, especially the landscape and astro. I'm pretty much in the same boat, I should have retired 2 years ago, but keep on being drawn back in. I'd also love to take some more astro, but living in London we have very light polluted skies, and I simply don't get away enough. No chance of seeing the milky way from London unfortunately. As Richard suggested, I'll try and take some Orion shots and will invest in a tracker at some point, but the moon is still a great target. Thanks, everyone for the warm welcome!
For evacguy: Mostly wildlife and landscapes. My retirement is now close enough to start counting (2028) so photography will be a major activity once I no longer report to 'The Man'.... I'll be joining some of the local wildlife & birding groups for some weekend excursions to see what lies beyond my back yard. I used to be into astronomy, but arthritis now makes lifting/mounting heavy/expensive telescopes problematic. On that note, I would very much like to get to some darker skies and see what my A7CR can do with some extended exposures of the Milky Way. Finally, I want to stop taking 'snapshots' and force myself think about and compose my pictures - perhaps there's a story or new perspective to be told.
