Hi, I'm a 71 year old who likes travel and photography, those 2 great friends. Just taken the expensive eap into Sony full frame mirrorless, and I'm loving it.

Welcome aboard. I would playfully counter that any new camera + gear would be expensive 😅
Which camera body did you decide to buy?

A7r iii and Sony 24-105 g oss 😁

That lens will treat you well

Thinking about getting the tamron 50-300 to add to my armoury.

I'm a fan of it. Performs well throughout the focal range and has a closer minimum focusing distance than other similar zooms.

"Armoury"
I like the way you think.
When I was stationed in West Germany, I was the commander of an M113 armored personnel carrier. I had two Canon FtBs onboard. I claimed to have the only APC in Europe armed with twin 35mm Canons.

Welcome! I just added the 70-300 rxd in a kit rebuild around the α7³. The 28-60 and a couple of small primes, and Minoltas with an ea4 round things out.
For now...

I was in the Australian Army in the early '80's. I was in a field workshop and I used to drive the fitters version of the 113 with the HIAB crane on top.
