So this Kickstarter - UnifyDrive UT2: Portable NAS is pretty tempting.

Why do I say that? Well normally when I do shorter travel trips I'll just bring my camera, a bunch of memory cards and my tablet for entertainment. Pretty much wherever I go on these trips I won't take so many images that I run out of space on my cards. When I go on longer photography centric trips (think wildlife targeted trips of 10+ days) I bring the camera, many cards, tablet, small PC, card reader and 2-3 external drives. With this device I could do away with the PC, card reader and external drives. This would be pricey as it would add another $600-700 for 2 4TB drives but I would be doing away with the need for the PC, card reader and external drives with one device just a little larger than one of the external drives.

There are a couple of similar solutions out there, the Nexto comes to mind, it has a built in 400gb drive and a small screen to view on. It's around £150

I was put off it by a review on Petapixel that had some scathing things to say about it: https://petapixel.com/2024/10/01/un...good-ideas-marred-by-a-messy-user-experience/ - you might to read that review before ordering it.
