Lens Comparisons: 70-200, 100-400, 200-600 and Teleconverters

Someone asked me if I had considered using a 70-200 GM OSS2 with 2x TC rather than the 100-400 GM. I realized after searching sports images that I had only used the 1.4x TC with my 70-200 so I decided to do some informal testing. All of these shots are handheld sitting in my backyard watching birds at the feeder (and in nearby trees.) I started yesterday with the 70-200 with the 2x TC and the 100-400. I also took some shots with the 100-400 + the 2x TC. Today I pulled out my 200-600 and took some shots at 400 and 600 with it. I also took shots adding the 1.4x TC at 600 and 840 and with the 2x TC at 600, 840ish, and 1200.

Interesting experiment, I only have the 1.4 teleconference due to the gloomy weather in the UK and loosing one stop is enough. As I'm getting on age lugging the 200 600 around is getting a bit much so recently like you I've been using the 70-200 with the 1.4. Early days yet but my wrists appreciate the change . I'm no expert but I think your shot at 840 with the 1.4 is the best.
