Caught this guy sunning himself on the back porch (perched on the bbq cover).
I believe he's a Northern Curly Tailed Lizard.

A follow up to my Jamaican Anole thread from a year ago (link below).

Christmas found me hunting for lizards and flowers around my parents' house to photograph. Here are the lizards, which appear to all be in the same Anolis family:

Anolis Lineatopus or Anolis Opalinus:

Anolis Grahami:

Oh hello there cheeky fellow:

  • Sony E 30mm f/3.5 Macro
  • 30.0 mm
  • ƒ/11
  • 1/250 sec
  • ISO 125

And heading back to hiding after a pose...

Finally the big one, Jamaicans just call this "big green lizard" but technically it is Anolis Garmani:

  • E 17-70mm F2.8 B070
  • 70.0 mm

  • ISO 250

Big boy up there was very skittish and didn't hang around long enough for more photos.

As an observation on the pictures I just posted, it seems to me that Tamron 17-70 is almost always soft at 70mm.

2 out of 3 shots with the Tamron are wide open at f2.8, but the other is f5.6
It looks almost like it missed focus. The 1st image the leaf to the left of lizard looks like it is in focus and the last the area under the chest of the lizard looks in focus. Kind of interested in where the camera has the focus points on those. If you have the Imaging Edge software that can show you.

Most of the time that was my fault; animal eye AF did its job but then either they moved or I did. I guess we'll see. I'd still like to try with either the 50-300mm or a 90mm macro lens to get sharper results.

How do you do that exactly? I have only used Imaging Edge a couple of times. I just had a look and I couldn't find anything.

Sorry to hijack your thread @FowlersFreeTime.
