We're extremely lucky to still have a village pub. To be honest if it weren't for the tourists, we wouldn't have one now.

Before the pandemic, music night was every Friday night, if we were home, we'd go. Mostly, it would be rock, but Ska, reggae and pop also featured. It was always very loud, and depending on the band, always rammed.

They've started having the occasional one again, last night was a belter. Beaky and the meerkatz, a variety of genres played with a rockabilly slant.

It's not easy in a crammed venue finding an angle, and it's surprising how much time singers spend with their eyes closed, a tambourine in front of their face or behind the mic stand. The light sucks, the mildly inebriated wander in front of you and the influence of the alcohol kicks in at some point. Great fun, all the same.
