So a new 23mm lens enters the APSC environment, this time TTArtisan's lens is autofocus unlike their previous budget entry for this category. Only $130 USD, that's pretty good.
Why would an A6XXX user care? Well, a few years ago, APSC 23mm lenses (which equate to 35mm on a full frame camera) were not so common. Now there are AF entries from Sigma, Viltrox, and TTArtisan, and a few more in MF flavor. More lens choices are always welcome!

I settled on the FE 24mm f2.8 to give me a compact 35mm-equivalent lens to carry around, but sometimes I wish the aperture was wider, like f2.0 but I digress...

After a bit more research, I can see why you get what you pay for:
  • 30cm minimum focusing distance isn't bad, but with Sony and Sigma you get 25cm (less if you manually focus)
  • no weather sealing
  • review mentioned "soap bubble effect in the bokeh?"
Still, if the A6XXX lineup is to be "entry-level" then its nice to see budget lens options out there. I'm sure it will be discussed a lot on Tim's A6400 Facebook group.
