I feel like I should apologise Greg, it's a great shot, and from what I have now read, a difficult bird to spot. But being very far from expert when it comes to birds, and given the date of posting, my first reaction to the photo, not having heard of these before, was "not another April fools". So I'm sorry that I doubted your post, and once again, great shot.

Yes they are a species that birders spend many hours seeking out to photograph. They tend to live in ferny gullies away from city populations so having areas in Tasmania where the habitats 'for now' still exist restively close to home is a real bonus.

My excuse, other than general ignorance, is saw it at the end of a very long and tiring day, and after looking at a faceplant feed filled with obvious fake posts. Hopefully my wife and I can make another visit to Tasmania soon.

Well, I never know what date it is, unless I have to be somewhere. But I can see how such a pink-cake-icing bird might cause doubt!
