News Sigma announced 28-45 f1.8 lens

Not sure if it's thread worthy but yesterday Sigma announced a 28-45 f1.8 lens for full frame cameras. It's being promoted as the fastest zoom lens ever.

It has a very modest zoom ratio, so I would rather have a prime lens, such as the Sony 28mm f2.0 lens. The latter weighs only 200g and is 64mm long, compared to 950g and 153mm for this, which for me would outweigh the small advantage of the zoomability and slightly better f number.

It seems to be a lens made only to say "yes we can and we made it first" but not sure who would want such a lens. Maybe a wedding/event photographer?

I think that I would! But, in building my Full-Frame collection, I should probably go for a 24-70 first.
