Sony A7 III Sony A7iii Viewfinder and Monitor

I'm having issues with viewfinder and LCD Monitor. Normally when I'm not looking through viewfinder my monitor lights up so I can view but now I have to extend my monitor before it lights up. What setting(s) did I mess up? Thanks in advance!

You might have changed your finder/monitor settings to manual. Normally they are on auto by default.

MENU → (Camera Settings2) → [FINDER/MONITOR] → desired setting.

Unless you use your monitor frequently for shooting etc, and dependant upon which camera you have, probably best to set your monitor to off in the playback monitor /finder settings which will turn it off and conserve battery but which you can turn it on when needed by pressing the rear wheel centre/OK button.....your image playback functions will remain the same in actuating the playback button.
